What changed for 2027 in Florida
These CMS figures describe Florida's statewide market and national Part D limits. Your plan choices and costs depend on where you live and the coverage you choose.
- Medicare Advantage plans: 560 Medicare Advantage plans are available in Florida in 2027, compared to 611 plans in 2026.
- Average Medicare Advantage premium: The average monthly Medicare Advantage plan premium in Florida changed from $1.83 in 2026 to $2.13 in 2027. That is a statewide average. Your own plan's premium can be higher or lower, and your Annual Notice of Change shows your plan's 2027 amount.
- Stand-alone drug plans: 11 stand-alone Medicare prescription drug plans are available in Florida in 2027.
- Part D out-of-pocket cap: $2,400 in 2027, up from $2,100 in 2026. Once your out-of-pocket spending on covered Part D drugs reaches $2,400, you won't pay out of pocket for covered Part D drugs for the rest of 2027. The cap applies to covered Part D drugs, including drugs covered through an approved exception. Premiums and noncovered drugs do not count toward it.
- Part D deductible: The 2027 Part D deductible can be up to $700. Plans may set a lower amount. The 2026 maximum was $615.
What this means for you: fewer plans statewide doesn't tell you whether your plan changed. AdviseCare can help you review your plan's changes and compare the plans we offer based on your doctors, prescriptions, and budget.

What to check before you decide
Start with your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC). It explains next year's changes to your plan's costs and benefits. Review your premiums, deductibles, copays, and the benefits you use. Also check your prescriptions and pharmacy in the plan's 2027 coverage information.
Confirm your doctors and hospital in the specific plan's 2027 network before you enroll. Our Tampa Bay hospital networks guide explains what to check.
If your plan is continuing in 2027, you remain eligible, and if it still fits your needs, you generally do not need to re-enroll. Read any notices from your plan before deciding.

2027 Open Enrollment questions, answered
When is Medicare Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage?
Open Enrollment runs from October 15 through December 7, 2026. Changes you make take effect January 1, 2027, and your plan must get your enrollment request by December 7. If you're in a Medicare Advantage plan, you also have one chance to change plans between January 1 and March 31, 2027.
Do I have to do anything if I'm happy with my current plan?
Usually not, if your plan is continuing in 2027, you remain eligible, and you have reviewed its changes. Read any notices about your plan ending, leaving your area, or your eligibility changing. If you keep your plan, its 2027 costs and benefits start January 1, 2027.
How many Medicare Advantage plans are available in Florida for 2027?
CMS reports 560 Medicare Advantage plans available in Florida in 2027, compared to 611 in 2026. That is a statewide count. The plans available to you depend on your county and ZIP code. You can compare your plans here with us. Book a no-cost 30-minute review or call (813) 544-7066.
What is the Medicare Part D out-of-pocket cap for 2027?
The cap is $2,400 in 2027, up from $2,100 in 2026. Once your out-of-pocket spending on covered Part D drugs reaches $2,400, you won't pay out of pocket for covered Part D drugs for the rest of the year. The cap applies to covered Part D drugs, including drugs covered through an approved exception. Premiums and noncovered drugs do not count toward it.
Will Tampa General, BayCare, AdventHealth, or Moffitt be in my plan for 2027?
It depends on the specific plan, and hospital contracts can change. Look the hospital up in each plan's 2027 provider directory, call the hospital's insurance office with the exact plan name, and check your doctors as well as the hospital. AdviseCare can check your doctors and hospitals against the plans we offer in your area at no cost.
What if my plan is leaving my area or ending in 2027?
Read your plan's notice for your enrollment options and deadlines. If its Medicare contract is not renewed for 2027, you can choose another plan during Open Enrollment, October 15 through December 7, 2026, or the nonrenewal Special Enrollment Period, December 8, 2026 through February 28, 2027. Other contract endings can have different deadlines. If your Medicare Advantage coverage ends and you do not join another Medicare Advantage plan, you generally return to Original Medicare. Original Medicare does not automatically replace your plan's prescription coverage. Arrange drug coverage and confirm its start date before your current coverage ends to avoid a gap.
Does it cost anything to get help from AdviseCare?

| Maximum Part D annual deductible | $615 | $700Confirmed |
| Part D annual out-of-pocket cap for covered Part D drugs | $2,100 | $2,400Confirmed |
These are standard Medicare amounts, not a personal plan quote. Most people pay no Part A premium; eligibility can depend on your or your spouse's work record. Part B premiums can be higher because of income or late enrollment penalties. Supplemental coverage or financial assistance may reduce what you pay. Medicare Advantage costs vary by plan.
The 2027 Part D deductible can be up to $700. Plans may set a lower amount. The drug cap excludes premiums and noncovered drugs and is separate from a Medicare Advantage medical out-of-pocket limit. A higher cap means you may pay more before reaching it.
